How Tidbyt Works

Collections contain different categories, like Home, Live, Work etc. Next to the Collection names is also a search icon you can use to easily search for the apps that you want.

Select an app you want to install and simply click "Add to Tidbyt", that's it! Just repeat the same process for all the other apps that you want to install.

Pro-tip: If you want to for example track multiple stock symbols, sports teams or anything else.

You can add multiple installations of the same app and just select different options depending on what you want to see and add them to your Tidbyt.

Each app has the ability to be scheduled for certain days and what time during the day it should be displayed. Simply click the schedule toggle that is available in each app to set it up.

Pro-tip: If you want an app to be displayed different times during weekdays or weekends. Simply install the app again and set the schedule you want for the second installation.

By default, the Tidbyt will rotate through all your installed apps on a 15 second intervall. Sometimes, it might be handy to only show one or a few apps at the time that you are particularly interested in, on game day as an example.

Similarly, if you have apps installed that you want to hide without uninstalling them. You can mute them so they are not shown in the app rotation.

To find this feature, long press on the app icon to bring up the menu.

While long pressing you can also drag and move each app to change what order they are displayed in.

If you have a voice assistant from Google in your home, or if you have the Google Voice assistant on your phone. You can ask your assistant to show any of your installed apps when you want to see them, instantly. You can for example ask for your transit app before heading out the door. If you are using any of the pinning, muting or scheduling features. The voice command will override those to show the app that you want once before going back to it's regular rotation.

You have multiple options to control brightness of your Tidbyt, you can manually set the display brightness, dim at sunset or set it to dim between certain hours. You can find all these options by clicking the cog wheel in the App menu in your app.

You can also control the brightness by using the Google Voice assistant, "Hey Google, set brightness to 40% on the living room Tidbyt”

Turn this on to gradually reduce the brightness as the sun sets

Turn on night mode for a better experience at night. Night mode will make your Tidbyt's display very dim so it doesn't bother you if you're sleeping. It will also disable all applets and just show a simple clock instead, in case you wake up at night and want to check the time.

By default, each app is shown for 15 seconds before switching to the next app. You can speed up the rotation by changing the App cycle speed in settings and by going to the labs tab.
